David Burya
Design Principal & Chief Strategy Officer
David Burya has been designing architectural lighting environments since 1998.
He has an Associate Degree in Computer Integrated Manufacturing, a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Washington State University and a Master of Science in Lighting from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
He has worked with many prominent architectural firms with diverse architectural styles, including Diller Scofidio + Renfro, SANNA Ltd. Architects, SHoP, SOM, FXcollaborative, Richard Meier, Preston Scott Cohen, Nicholas Grimshaw, Peter Marino, S.R. Gambrel, Tadao Ando, and Santiago Calatrava among others. Additionally, he has received several industry design awards for his renovation of Lincoln Center Public Plazas, The New Museum of Contemporary Art, Alexander Calder sculptures, 911 memorial and the Lincoln Square Synagogue. Many past projects include master planning for cultural institutions and education campuses, such as Brown University.
His past employment with notable design firms include Ann Kale Associates, Fisher Marantz Stone and Tillotson Design Associates.
The IES of North America has recognized his work by awarding him the prestigious Lumen Award for retail, cultural, religious and restaurant projects.
